ABOUT US

Vivian Deloris Norman, “Lois” to almost all who knew her, lived in Washington County. She was born on June 13, 1951 and passed on January 5, 2009, following a long illness. She worked at Weyerhaeuser, Inc. where she remained for 31 years prior to her illness. She was well-known for her dedication to her work. She loved her family and friends dearly and had a heart of gold.

Her passion was sports. Throughout her school years and beyond, she was active in athletics. She played basketball, softball, volleyball, tennis, ran track, and excelled in all areas. She was phenomenal on the basketball court and will be remembered for her awesome jump-shot and averaging 30-40 points per game. She was definitely before her time. If the WNBA was around then, she surely would have been the #1 pick.

Lois’ legacy has inspired this scholarship opportunity for the youth of today. Throughout the year, the scholarship committee hopes to do various events to raise monies in support of the scholarship fund, but right now the main event is the Memorial Day Weekend activities--bringing the community together for “Lois” and to raise funds for the scholarship.

The committee would like to annually give scholarships to a deserving senior who excelled in the athletic and/or academic arenas from Washington County High School. The scholarships aim to help students with their finances and help us continue to keep her dream alive.
